AGRO 2400 is an electrolytically generated source of stabilized ionic silver that can serve as a basis for a wide range of products. AGRO 2400 kills microorganisms by two modes of action. First, the silver ion deactivates structural and metabolic membrane proteins leading to microbial death. Secondly, microbes view AGRO 2400 as a food source and allow the silver ion to enter the microbe cell. Once inside the cell the silver ion denatures the DNA which halts the microbes’ ability to replicate and effectively kills the Microbe. AGRO 2400 provides a broad spectrum antimicrobial activity and is effective against bacteria, fungi and pathogenic microorganisms. Its fast killing activity makes AGRO 2400 an effective antimicrobial for lots of products.

Review of the available toxicity data on AGRO 2400 indicates that the technology is considered non-toxic by OECD Acute Oral Toxicity Testing, Non-caustic by OECD Acute Dermal and Eye Toxicity testing. As such AGRO 2400 has been given a Category IV rating as a product that does not require precautionary or warning signals on its label. AGRO 2400 claims for disinfection range from 30- seconds for some vegetative bacteria, 2-minutes for antibiotic resistant organisms and 10-minutes for virucidal and fungicidal efficacy.
